“The Trading Card Industry’s Most Trusted “BigC” Company”
Breaks | Inspections | Grading | Consignment
Q. What is a Break?
A Break is when a group of people buy a portion (spot) of a product. Spots are sold for each Break, and a spot can be assigned by team (PYT), athlete, weight class, or at random. People can purchase one or more spots in each Break.
An example Break might be a hobby box for Prizm basketball, broken into 30 spots for each NBA team. The spots may be listed as Pick Your Team (PYT), where each team is assigned a price based on its value compared to all other teams. If it were a random Break, the 30 spots would all be the same price and teams would be assigned to each spot by random.
Q. What type of products does Black Gold Sports Cards sell in Breaks?
We are not a typical retailer offering an e-commerce storefront for sports cards. Our primary product is group Breaks that consist of a mix of hobby boxes for either basketball, football, baseball, UFC or multi-sport.
On our live broadcasts, we occasionally offer mystery packs, staxx pulls, small lots of cards and giveaways.
Q. Where does Black Gold Sports Cards do Breaks?
We are currently listing several Breaks per week on our Facebook group, Black Gold Sports Cards.
You can also find us broadcasting live up to three times per week on Whatnot.
Q. How do I get into a Break?
For Facebook:
Check the Facebook group page regularly for new announcements about Breaks. Breakers will post the terms and payment options for their Breaks. To enter, comment on the post on which spot(s) you’d like to claim, then submit payment as directed in the post.
Breaks will be conducted live as soon as all spots have been sold or at a pre-determined time.
After the Break, be sure to private message the Breaker on Facebook with your address if it your first Break with that person.
For Whatnot:
Follow our account on Whatnot and click to be notified of our broadcasts when they are scheduled.
When you set up your Whatnot profile, you will be prompted to enter your shipping address and payment information. After that, when you join our live broadcast, we will post auctions for spots in our Breaks that you can easily bid on with a click of a button. If you win the Break, Whatnot handles all of the shipping and payment processing.
Q. Can I run Breaks on the Black Gold Sports Cards channels?
Currently, Black Gold Sports Cards only allows for approved Breakers to broadcast on its channels. If you would like to be considered as a Breaker for Black Gold Sports Cards, please email us.
Q. Why should I submit my cards for Inspection with Black Gold Sports Cards?
Due to high demand in the industry, grading cards has become very expensive, and in some cases, restrictive. It’s important to know ahead of time what you’re working with, so that you don’t submit a card that won’t grade well enough to increase its value, potentially losing you hundreds of dollars in unnecessary grading fees.
Q. What does Black Gold Sports Cards do with the cards I send for Inspection?
We wipe down and inspect each card under different colored LED lights and commercial grade magnifying lamps to maintain our high success rate of delivering our customers cards that are graded 9 or better.
We make notes on each card’s condition, then follow up with a call to discuss if your submission is worth grading or not, to which company it would be best to send, and at which service level it should be submitted.
We will not send your “bad” cards in for grading, and it will save you a lot of money in unnecessary grading fees.
Q: Do you clean or alter cards?
No, we do not clean or alter cards. We will not clean or alter a card if specifically asked to do so. It is a fraudulent practice to alter cards in any way, and that includes applying any cleaning agents to a card. We only wipe down cards with a microfiber cloth.
Q. Why should I submit my cards for grading?
Submitting your collection of sports cards to grading companies is a great opportunity to protect your cards from damage and preserve their condition indefinitely, as your cards will be permanently encased in a durable plastic shell after being graded.
For modern cards, having grades of 9 or better increases the value of your cards as opposed to if they were left in raw, ungraded condition. With vintage cards, in some cases, even a grade as low as 1 of 10 will still increase the value of your card as opposed to if it was in raw, ungraded condition.
Even if a card is not expected to grade well enough to increase its value, some collectors prefer to still submit the card and only grade its authenticity, or the authenticity of the autograph on the card.
Also, with grading companies releasing population counts of each card they grade, it legitimizes the scarcity of your card as one of the few in its condition or better, thus further increasing the value of your card.

Due to booming demand for grading services, some grading companies have been forced to discontinue certain service levels, but we are often able to continue making those submissions due to our relationship with the company.
Q. Why not submit for grading using my personal PSA account?
Our turnaround times and check-in times are much faster than using a personal account. Also, we can submit an unlimited number of cards at the economy level, whereas a normal personal account cannot submit any unless they receive a weekly allocation from PSA.

Visit our Submission page and click the Track Submission(s) link to access the order tracking database. There you will see all current submissions.
If your name is not on the list, your order has likely been submitted, but not been processed yet. If you wish to inquire about it, please email customer service and we will make sure your order populates.
Q. When do I get my grades?
After you have paid your grading invoice, you have the option to receive your grades at that time, or you can keep them a surprise until you receive the cards in person.
Q. Why is it better to sell through Black Gold Sports Cards rather than on my own?
You don’t need to do any work, pay for any shipping materials, and WILL NOT receive a 1099 from us at the end of the year.
Q. How do I consign my cards with Black Gold Sports Cards?
You can submit cards for whatnot or ebay Consignment in two ways. The first method is if you’ve determined you’d like to do so before submitting your cards for grading, simply select yes in whatnot or ebay Consignment column of the Submission Form.
If you would like to submit cards for whatnot or ebay Consignment without submitting for grading first, fill out the Submission Form as usual and select yes in the ebay Consignment column, but do not select any of the options for grading in the upper part of the form.
Q. If I decide to submit my cards for grading, then decide to submit them to the Black Gold Sports Cards whatnot or ebay Consignment service, can I use that money to pay my grading invoice?
Yes, you can. Your consigned cards can pay for your entire submission. We will return to you any money that exceeds your grading invoice amount after everything has been finalized in the whatnot or ebay Consignment process.
Be sure to mark Yes in the whatnot or ebay Consignment column of your Submission Form for every card you want us to sell for you.
Q. How do I get paid once whatnot or ebay consignment is finished on my auctions?
Once your 7-day auction is finalized, the buyer has paid, and the items have been shipped, we will then credit your earnings to our account.
We can send your funds via PayPal (Friends and Family), Venmo (with emoji), Zelle or Cashapp.
